Complementarities between exports and human capital in economic growth: evidence from the semi-industrialized countries

Article Abstract:

Studies on the determinants of GDP growth indicate varied results, one of which is a research on 30 semi-industrialized countries spanning 19 years (1965-1984) bearing sensitivity to changes. This may be attributable to the interplay of education and export orientation which was overlooked in earlier studies. Results show a complementarity between trade policies and expenses in education, thus, further confirming the hypothesis that export orientation has something to do with economic growth.
