Something new under the sun
Article Abstract:
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) occur when gas is discharged from the sun, and they can disrupt electrical and communications equipment on earth. Scientists are hoping to be able to predict CMEs, and are investigating links between sigmoids, or concentrated magnetic fields, and CMEs. Large sunspots also tend to be found near CMEs, rather than small sunspots. The reason for the eruptions has yet to be understood. The North American Space Agency plans a mission which will record CMEs as 3-D images.

Contracting with costly tenants
Article Abstract:
Rental contracts in the housing market are analyzed. Asymmetric information about 'service cost' and imperfect mobility is assumed. Tenure discounts are granted by landlords to long-standing tenants so they can pay lower rents. Contracts which protect tenants against eviction are subjected to adverse selection. Tenure security laws which allow parties to enter non-terminable contracts tend to increase welfare.
