Determinants of patent rights: a cross-national study
Article Abstract:
Research and development activity, market environment and internal integration are factors that determine the ability of a country to implement effective protection of patent rights. In terms of research and development activity, it only becomes influential in protection of patent rights when a country's research sector attains a critical size. Industrialized countries are more effective in protecting patent rights compared to their underdeveloped counterparts.
