Disentangling the process of disablement
Article Abstract:
Empirical evidence shows that older persons with various health problems and lifestyle behaviors experience an increased risk of functional decline. More notable is the fact that existing research on late-life disablement has neglected the ill effects of environmental factors on functional status. It is therefore necessary to address these concerns to fully understand the process of disablement among the elderly. Two important challenges involve the need to develop common definitions of disablement and to use more sophisticated methodologies for designing and analyzing epidemiological data.

Union elections at the local level: the role effectiveness of committeepersons
Article Abstract:
Role effectiveness affects a committeeperson's chance of winning a local union governance election. Survey results taken before and after a local union governance election showed that committee persons who lost their position have lower role effectiveness rating before the election as compared to those who were successfully reelected. Newly elected committeepersons have higher role effectiveness rating than those they have replaced.
