Remittances, investment, and rural asset accumulation in Pakistan
Article Abstract:
Remittance and asset relationships in rural Pakistan exhibit distinct characteristics. External remittances have a significant impact on physical asset accumulation, particularly rainfed and irrigated lands. Internal remittances, however, have little impact on any aspect of asset accumulation. While external remittances tend to be invested, internal remittances are used for investment and consumption.
