Managing impressions with information: a field study of organizational realities

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of managerial control, self-monitoring, and procedure availability on impression management techniques used by subordinates. Findings indicate that self-monitoring subordinates utilize both positive and disassociative impression management methods when there is high procedural availability and managerial control is broad.

Management reaction to technological change: The example of enterprise resource planning

Article Abstract:

Several types of managers respond to large scale organizational change and the factor underpin differences in management attitudes and reactions are explored. The need to incorporate more critical perspectives informed by labor process theory with existing insights from conventional organizational change literature is emphasized.

Institutions and technology: Frameworks for understanding organizational change: The case of a major ICT outsourcing contract

Article Abstract:

A fresh approach to the analysis of technology in organization through a Critique of Orikowski and Barley's assessment that institutional theory has the potential to bridge the social and material facets of organization change when greater emphasis is placed on materiality of technology is offered. An alternative framework that unsettles the commonsense naturalized differentiation of materiality of technology and the discursive field through which it is articulated and given meaning.
