Is Durkheim the enemy of evolutionary psychology?

Article Abstract:

Evolutionary psychologists regard DurkheimEs sociology as an exemplar of an approach that takes the human mind to be a product of social and cultural factors with negligible contributions from biology. It is argued that the sociological theory of the categories is compatible with the possibility of innate cognitive capacities.

G.A Cohen's functional explanation: a critical realist analysis

An examination of the functional explanation that G.A Cohen employs in his book Karl MarxEs Theory of History is carried out. The Bhaskarian Critique is employed by demonstrating that functionalism is unworkable because it is dependent on an empiricist account of causation.

Evolution of human jealousy: a just-so or a just-so criticism?

Article Abstract:

Some requirements are proposed to operationalize the methodological assessment of evolutionary psychology. It is argued that the hypothesis about evolutionary sex differences in human jealousy satisfies all the proposed requirements.
