Leadership on race in a changing suburban high school

Article Abstract:

Embedded intergroup relations theory was used to analyze dialogues between educational leaders and high school students that focused on improving race relations. The analysis revealed that neither the high school nor the community was able to grant authority to the leaders to do the work necessary to improve relations, validating embedded intergroup relations theory as a means of identifying implementation problems.

Development and test of a contingency framework of coupling: assessing the covariation between structure and culture

Article Abstract:

This article tests a contingency framework developed to measure loose coupling in organizational life cycles and technological routineness. The authors found that structural and cultural coupling became tighter among participants, and individuals involved with nonroutine technology were more tightly coupled structurally, but less so culturally when compared with individuals involved with routine technology.
