Measuring Member Satisfaction with the Church
Article Abstract:
A set of scales for the measurement of membership satisfaction with church and synagogue is promulgated in this research. Eight scales measure responses to leadership, education, members, plants, services, strategy, clergy and special programs. The scales had high internal consistency reliabilities for the more than three hundred members of Protestant and Catholic churches. Test-re-test reliability was also strong for that group. The scales showed substantial proof of convergence validity. Demographic differences are analyzed. Tables of statistical data, including distribution and reliability figures, are included. A multimethod matrix analysis of data is highlighted.

Job Attitude and Motivation Differences between Volunteers and Employees from Comparable Organizations
Article Abstract:
Differences in job attitudes and work motivations amongst paid and non-paid workers are studied. Eight organizations, including newspapers, poverty aid groups, family planning agencies and fire departments, were used in the sample. It was hypothesized that volunteers would have more motivation and satisfaction. The hypothesis proved functional in most areas excluding intrinsic motivation. Findings agree with the sufficiency-of-justification impacts identified in other research. Data was assembled by telephone calls, visits, interviews and questionnaires. Analysis of variance is used to assess data.
