Changing food prices and rural welfare: a nonparametric examination of the Cote d'Ivoire
Article Abstract:
Food prices have little affect on rural welfare in Ivory Coast. In the Ivory Coast most households sell at least some food products but the amount sold is so small that there is is probably little connection between food prices and an increase in the marketed surplus of food. The only food sold in most cases is the surplus left after personal consumption or the surplus generated from a good crop year. The article also agrees with the validity of the use of the nonparametric method for determining development issues.

Impacts and incidence of agricultural commodity programs
Article Abstract:
Agricultural commodity programs are looked at to determine if the producers are the major beneficiaries of the plans. It was found that short-term gains were made by landless producers via commodity programs and longer term gains were seen by land owners. Roughly 60% of the agricultural producing land in the US is owned by operating producers.
