Monitoring, reputation, and 'greenbeard' reciprocity in a Shuar work team
Article Abstract:
A study on evolution of cooperation and altruism in organizations is presented based on the collective action in Shuar hunter-horticulturalists. The importance of monitoring of collective action, perception of better reputation by higher-cooperators, and differentiation between intentional non-cooperators, and accidental non-cooperators is also discussed in this context. Ancient humans were inclined to cooperate, and to avoid the risks they could determined reciprocal inclinations from others in the group. Such reciprocity is termed as 'greenbeard' reciprocity.
