Performative knowledge
Article Abstract:
The notion of performativity, when understood as part of a movement against Descartes' cogito, names an approach that refuses to tie the fact that 'there is thinking' to identity or ontology. In place of the certainty that I am, that is, the cogito, is an argument for co-extensivity, that thinking is only confirmation that an individual exists within a discursive world.
