Prismatic metropolis: race and residential segregation in the city of Angels
Article Abstract:
Black-white residential segregation continue to exist at high levels despite increasing racial diversity in the prismatic metropolis of Los Angeles. Blacks face great difficulties in searching for a house as they confront discrimination and hostilities from members of other racial groups. While White neighbourhoods top the hierarchy of preference, affluent black neighbourhoods languish at the bottom. Housing costs seldom plays a role in the racial segregation of residential areas. Ethnocentrism is not a decisive factor in perpetuating segregation in Los Angeles

A systemic approach to racial residential patterns
Article Abstract:
Racial residential segregation has become one of the most significant areas in racial relations research. Recent studies suggest that the residential locations of minority groups affect their life chances. Racial residential patterns are evaluated using a systemic approach. The linear system of action model developed will enable a consideration of how an individual household maximizes all available neighborhood qualities simultaneously within the limits of socio-economic resources.
