Quality variations in the circular model of variety-differentiated products
Article Abstract:
Both horizontal and vertical differentiation factors are taken into account in this circular model of products, using two game strategies. The analysis finds quality level inversely related to the number of varieties, at equilibrium. The number of varieties can be reduced by establishment of minimum quality standards and such regulation can be welfare-improving. Competition in the quality dimension is found to be potentially welfare-decreasing compared to the situation when quality is fixed.

Alternative congestion pricing schedules
Article Abstract:
An equilibrium simulation model for peak-period commuting was developed to assess the broad spectrum effects exhibited by alternative congestion pricing schedules. Through a comparative analysis involving six congestion pricing schedules, it was shown that the imposition of flat tolls is ideal for increasing revenue potentials while expanding vehicle occupancy rates. However, it was also shown that such an approach is inefficient in optimizing consumer surplus and reducing congestion delays.

Attribute dependence and the provision of quality
Article Abstract:
Quality improvement decisions can affect product attributes and costs such as transportation. Marginal consumers receive more benefit from quality than do independent consumers.Price also relates to quality improvement either positively or negatively depending on the level of strategic importance of the quality decision.
