Profile: Dale Minami; a pioneer for Asian American civil rights
Article Abstract:
Japanese American attorney Dale Minami founded the Asian Law Caucus in 1972 to help promote equitable treatment of Asian Pacific Americans and has since won many large cases on their behalf. Minami, a UC Berkeley law graduate, realized while in school that Asians were poorly represented in the courts, making them easy targets for employment, housing and civil rights discrimination. More than a legal group, the caucus also works to organize communities, making them aware of their civil rights.
