Article Abstract:

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) facilities across the US receive various historical reference requests where one such request was from a researcher who was writing a book on historical ballads and was having questions regarding Leavenworth. Archivists claim St. Lawrence as their patron saint because he lost his life protecting church records and his feast day is August 10, a date that offered an important clue to locating obscure prison records.

The "confidential" files in NARA reveal the as-yet-untold and riveting story of the government's efforts during World War II to thwart potential sabotage of one of the nation's most strategic and vulnerable targets-Hoover Dam. The measures taken to protect the U.S. power supply against hostile acts are described.

NARA's library offers "The Light at the Beginning of the Tunnel"

Article Abstract:

The Archives Library Information Center (ALIC) exists to provide contextual information to both the archivists arranging and describing the records and the researchers using those records and information maintained by NARA. Their resources are varied like of paper, electronic or human form.
