Sociometric and ability-based assignment to work-groups: some implications for personnel selection
Article Abstract:
The different effects of sociometric versus ability-based selection on job performance in a workgroup were studied among 108 male and 150 female college students in an industrial psychology course. Results indicate that those chosen by the sociometric method had better interpersonal relations and job satisfaction compared to the other group without a significant difference in workgroup performance.
