Spatial price competition when stores are not certain to have what consumers want
Article Abstract:
A variation of the standard model of spatial competition by Braid (1986) was employed in order to assess the Bertrand-Nash equilibrium pricing phenomenon in stores evenly placed within an infinite route. The model takes into account the fact that the stores carry only a finite set of products and that consumers can get precise information on price and reserves through the phone. Results show that the demand function of stores is a linear function of all stores, suggesting that every store is in direct competition with all stores and that competition diminishes somewhat in relation to distance.

Spatial Cournot competition and heterogeneous production costs across locations
Article Abstract:
The strategic location framework under Cournot competition is extended to take account of different production costs across locations. It is shown that the unique equilibrium in the linear distribution case is an agglomerated equilibrium.
