Tensions between science and service in organizational scholarship
Article Abstract:
An overview is presented on the emergence of organizational science, or a scientific approach to the phenomena of human life, and its application to academic learning. Topics include the roles of positivism and politics for extending scientific theory to social domains, and the challenges to this practice as orthodoxy gradually declined in importance.
