The nature of long-term technological change: innovation, evolution and technological systems
Article Abstract:
An evaluation of German and Italian technological systems using the evolutionary methodological foundations of the process of technological change shows how an open system that encourages communication between sub-systems and components can lead to technological growth. In contrast with a polarized industrial structure, such as in Italy, where the technological diffusion is hindered by the gradient formed by political and regional factors. The technological systems approach is a useful evaluation tool since its relies on the quantification of the contributions of each sub-system and component present in a region that determines its technological growth.

Getting round the lock-in in electricity generating systems: the example of the gas turbine
Article Abstract:
The adoption of new technologies may be used to address the usual problem of lock-in processes in steam and gas turbine competition. The method is carried out by causing increasing returns of adoption (IRA) to operate in a specific production niche wherein the technological developments of the gas turbine are relative to the interplay of technical and economic requirements. It has also been cited that the hybridization of steam and gas turbine technologies was the precursor of combined cycles. The analysis further proved that the model proposed by B. Arthur failed to cover several vital aspects of turbine competition.
