A special message to H/CD officials
Article Abstract:
Pres. Bill Clinton is dedicated to the improvement of public housing. Unlike his predecessors, he focuses on making public housing a place where families stay only temporarily, earn some money and then relocate into private housing. In essence, the initiatives of his administration are aimed at making public housing merely a 'doorway to opportunity.' The four foundations of reform of the Clinton government include the demolition of rundown high-rise housing and construction of apartments and townhomes in their place, the prevention of crime and drugs in public housing, the reformation of the country's worst-performing housing authorities, and the reorganization of the internal dynamics in public housing by promoting incentives for residents to learn, train and work.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the extent to which discrimination affected pension receipt and degrees of pension income among women aged 55 to 69 years in 1992. The study also examined the impact of demographic and human capital factors on pension income levels. A measure of work-related discrimination based on age, race and sex was utilized to carry out the analysis. Results indicated no association between discrimination and receipt of income.
