Adolescent fathers: what we know and what we need to know
Article Abstract:
Adolescent fathers have been, for the most part, left out in addressing the issues on adolescent pregnancy and parenting. Welfare policy makers should correct this since what little literature there is on adolescent fathers reveal that the images associated with this group are mostly stereotypes. Adolescent fathers, for one, have strong feelings of obligation toward the mothers of their children. They also indicated that fatherhood was neither disruptive nor troublesome. However, they did admit to feeling stressed due to issues such as paternity decisions and financial responsibilities.
