Assessing and changing organizational culture and climate for effective services

Article Abstract:

The various factors that affect community-based mental health and social service organizations like federal and state regulations, funding and collaborations with various other service systems are described. It is strongly felt that a science should be developed to implement the effectiveness, assess and change the social context of mental health and social service organizations that contribute to the effort.

Epilogue: the Austin initiative

Efforts that are underway to implement the recommendations which have emerged based on the Austin symposium papers and proceedings are presented. Highlight on initiatives that establish linkages with existing social work organizations and working within them is also given.
