The logic of terrorist target choice: an examination of Chechen rebel bombings from 1997-2003

Article Abstract:

The Chechen-Russian conflict is examined in terms of Chechen rebel bombings in Chechnya and Russia from 1997 to 2003 to understand the logic behind the choice of targets and timings of terrorist acts. Implications of the findings with regard to attacks on civilian targets, and the impact of weather and urbanization are discussed.

Contextualizing political terrorism: A Collective Action perspective for understanding the Tanzim

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to embed the study of political terrorism within the larger phenomenon of Collective Action. Using the case of the Tanzim contention with Israeli forces it is demonstrated how processes within, between and outside the confictants affected Tanzim members' decision to employ political terrorism.
