Biphasic stimulant and sedative effects of ethanol: are children of alcoholics really different?

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the increased risk of children of alcoholics becoming alcoholics themselves. The authors, comparing a sample of college students who are children of alcoholics with a sample of students who are not children of alcoholics using the Biphasic Alcohol Effects scale, maintain the results demonstrated children of alcoholics had greater increases in stimulation and the same levels of sedation as children of non-alcoholics.

Differential effects of past-year stimulant and sedative drug use on alcohol-related aggression

Article Abstract:

The effects of past-year stimulant and sedative drug use on alcohol-related aggression is determined and whether the relation between stimulant drug use and intoxicated aggression is better accounted for by behavioral disinhibition is examined. Results indicated that alcohol significantly strengthened the relation between stimulant drug use and aggression, but only among men.
