British security policies and Ireland: the decline of a territorial imperative
Article Abstract:
Ireland has lost its strategic significance to England with advances in defense technology, though in the past there were strategic reasons which resulted in oppression of Ireland for England's imperial strategies. Arguments which cite strategic reasons for controlling Ireland are atavistic in the modern age. These arguments also masked deeper psychological reasons for the particular relationship between the two countries, which now come to the fore, once the strategic rationalization has been disposed of.

Article Abstract:
There is a predominant feeling of dissatisfaction and anxiety among Northern Irish Protestants, or alienation. A survey conducted in 1993 before the ceasefire to assess the opinion of the Protestants revealed that they were opposed to the idea of forming a united Ireland through violence. "Holy Terror": the implications of terrorism motivated by a religious imperative
Article Abstract:
Terrorist groups moved by religious motivations is a significant feature of international terrorism since 1980. These groups are more dangerous than secular groups since they consider violence as a divine duty. Religious terrorism is not limited only to Islamic terrorist groups in the Middle East but is also found among American Christian white supremacists and among radical Indian Sikh movements.
