The girl was severely emaciated, displayed destructive behavior and had lapses of memory coupled with denial of past behavior. It was revealed during treatment that physical, sexual and emotional abuse had been experienced. Victim was able to recover rapidly partly due to her young age and the trusting relationship established with the therapist. Implications for other treatmentstrategies are discussed.

The appearance of acute, healing, and healed anogenital trauma

Article Abstract:

A panel discussion concerning the research on clinical features of normal, injured and healed anogenital anatomy is discussed in relation to child sexual abuse. The multicenter research approach is suggested for repeated or chronic abuse. In the multicenter study, a primary concern is the standardization of the timing of follow-up evaluations. Also, the performance of a histopathological study of the anatomy is suggested in the detection of scar tissue.
