Delayed matching-to-sample performance: effects of relative reinforcer frequency and of signaled versus unsignaled reinforcer magnitudes
Article Abstract:
A study of the effects of relative reinforcer frequency, and of unsignaled versus signaled reinforcer magnitudes in pigeons reveals that the accuracy of matching and performance response to the distribution of reinforcers for matching responses decreases as the delays in both phases increase. Signaled small-reinforcer trials exhibit lower levels of accuracy and reinforcement sensitivity than the signaled large-reinforcer- and both types of unsignaled trials.

Pointing at smaller food amounts in an analogue of Boysen and Berntson's (1995) procedure
Article Abstract:
Monkeys do not always show an unlearned predisposition to point at foods with higher value that overrides the reinforcement effects. This finding questions Boysen and Berntson's finding that apes fail to learn to point at a small food amount to get a larger amount, though pointing to a large amount is reinforced by a small food amount. This absence of predisposition may be because pointing at a large food amount is not reinforced in an all in one condition.
