STREET SMARTS
Article Abstract:
Transit, highway, and aeronautical engineers significantly influenced urban decentralization after 1900. Statistics have especially guided the planning of these groups since the 1960s, yet their training did not begin to include environmental and other broad consequences until the 1980s. Consequently, by the end of the 20th century, the US has the world's best road system and the world's worst public transit.

A public choice perspective on the subsidization of private industry: a case study of three cities and three stadiums
Article Abstract:
Publicly-subsidized economic development projects that have been assisted with the use of tax credits, tax remission, and nontax incentives, are tools with which states compete for different industries. Stadiums are projects that involve the relationship between investors, public officials, and taxpayers. A behavioral model can be tested using case studies of three publicly-subsidized football stadiums.
