Lorries and lorry driving in Britain 1948-1968: the end of an era
Article Abstract:
Lorry driving in Britain from 1948 to 1968 was a distinct cultural activity with its own rituals, language and lifestyle. Long distance haulage vehicles, such as the Mammoth Major, Meritor and Octopus were produced by the vehicle industry which had for long concentrated on military vehicles production. Such vehicles were widely seen on the roads of England and Scotland. The lorry gave its driver an identity and status and the two were inseparable. Several changes in working conditions and lifestyle of the drivers led to the demise of the lorry driver's culture in Britain from the 1970s onwards.

Gender and performance in athletics
Article Abstract:
The rate of improvement of female athletes especially in long distance races has been excellent when compared to their male counterparts. In anaerobic strength events, male physiology seems to be better suited, but with proper encouragement and participation, women can come to par with men in some long-distance aerobic events. A comparative study between the performance of men and women in various sports is used to study human physiology in further detail.
