Nonconscious goal pursuit: Acting in an explanatory vacuum
Article Abstract:
The affective consequences of nonconscious and conscious goal pursuit that either violates or does not violate a prevailing social norm were examined. It was observed that when an explanation was not required of goal directed behavior, affective experiences did not differ but when an explanation was required, nonconscious goal pursuit induced more negative affect than conscious goal pursuit.

Article Abstract:
Studies were undertaken to examine the hypothesis behind the mindset theory, which suggests that during information processing the deliberative mindset is more open-minded and the implemental one is more close-minded. Results indicated superior recognition memory amongst deliberative mindsets suggesting their increased open-mindedness to processing incidental information.
