Murphy would probably also win the election - the effect of television as related to the portrayal of the family in situation comedies
Article Abstract:
TV situation comedies, such as 'I Love Lucy' and 'The Wonder Years,' portray the family as role models. In contrast, former US Vice-President Dan Quayle criticized the sitcom 'Murphy Brown' for glorifying the deterioration of family values by its portrayal of the main character as an unwed mother. Research shows that television can have a negative impact, affecting behavior patterns according to age, sex, ethnic and socioeconomic groupings. However, sitcoms tend to cling to a positive image of the family.

'Fatal Attraction': the politics of terror
Article Abstract:
The terror evoked by 'Fatal Attraction' is similar to the fear and helplessness felt by the American public in its attempts to understand international political terrorism. The film's popularity was due in part to its release during a resurgence of terrorist activity. The movie also relates gender and terror by depicting a woman as the cause of terror.
