Psychophysics of remembering

Article Abstract:

The effects of conditional discrimination were incorporated in a model on remembering among pigeons. Thurstonian distributions were used to illustrate the effects of sample stimuli at the time of remembering. Previous experiences of the pigeons accounted for effective stimulus values which are linked with a record of prior reinforced correct choices. The ratio of reinforcement represents the choice as influenced by matching principles. Deviations in standard distribution are linked with increased time allotments for retention-interval.

On the effects of signaling reinforcer probability and magnitude in delayed matching to sample

Article Abstract:

Two experiments were conducted to examine whether postsample signals of reinforcer probability or magnitude affected the accuracy of delayed matching to sample in pigeons. It was found that matching was more accurate when larger or more probable reinforcers were signaled, independently of retention interval duration.

Social influence in pigeons (Columba livia): the role of differential reinforcement

Article Abstract:

The authors designed five experiments to study socially-influenced learning in pigeons where a demonstrator in an adjacent chamber was observed pecking a key 10 times. Social influence was seen to depend on differential reinforcement by the observer's target response.
