Race, class, and space: Outcomes of suburban access for Asians and Hispanics

Article Abstract:

Suburban Asian and Hispanic populations have higher socioeconomic status and in general they translate that increase in socioeconomic status into greater integration in the suburbs. Outcomes however can vary based on metropolitan context and there is greater mixing in California than in the United States as a whole.

The impact of school and neighborhood composition on the children of White families is analyzed in Los Angeles county. The ethnic composition of the school is found to be strongly correlated to the geographical location of the school.
