Report of the Office of Refugee Resettlement
Article Abstract:
A total of 131,600 refugees and Amerasian immigrants entered the US in FY 1992, indicating a 93% fulfillment of quota. This figure was higher than the previous year's levels. Between 1975-87, about half of these refugees were from the Southeast Asian nations of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. However, in FY 1992, Soviet Union refugees comprised the largest single group of immigrants. About half of all US immigrants settled in either California or New York. In terms of age, the median age of immigrants was lower than the US in general.

ICMC: The Orderly Departure Program
Article Abstract:
The Orderly Departure Program, under the supervision of the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), offers a better and a more legal alternative to Vietnamese migrants who want to resettle in the US. Qualifying interviews are conducted in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Once applicants are approved for resettlement, ICMC personnel coordinate with the International Organization for Migration for transportation arrangements. Then, they are either flown directly to the US or via the Philippine Refugee Processing Center.
