Romantic jealousy as a social comparison outcome: when similarity stings
Article Abstract:
A study on the role of perceived self-rival similarity showed that people experience greater jealousy when they perceive similarities between an attractive rival and themselves, which challenged one's positive distinctiveness. It also revealed that self-evaluation completely mediated the relationship between perceived distinctiveness and experienced jealousy.
