Subject cataloging: A beacon for readers in search of books
Article Abstract:
The Library of Congress is responsible for subject cataloging books according to Library of Congress Subject Headings and a Library of Congress Classification number, which is used to designate a title to a particular library shelf. More than 90% of new books are cataloged prior to publishing. Between one and ten headings and subdivisions are selected which best describe the focus of the book and a number is allocated corresponding to the first subject heading.

Article Abstract:
'Cultural Studies,' edited by Lawrence Grossberg, Cary Nelson and Paula Treichler, wrongly proposes that the British idea of cultural studies failed to enter American social science because of ignorance.
