Article Abstract:

An examination of why some insurgent groups in Iraq commit suicide terrorism whilst others do not revealed that suicide bombers are used by those who wish to sabotage an emerging political order while the other groups are more keen on achieving system integration. Groups that are unable to compete in any future political and institutional alignments in Iraq's new coalition politics are more likely to carry out suicide bombing.
