The myth about "myths of the Chicago school": Evidence from Floyd Nelson House

Article Abstract:

Some important works in the history of sociology questions whether the Chicago School should be identified with qualitative as opposed to more quantitative, statistical, and co relational methods. Whether this characterization is a 'myth' or if there is some real basis for this association of Chicago sociology with qualitative research and a broader epistemological stance critical of radical neo-positivism is examined.

Symbolic interaction and classical Greek scholarship: Conceptual foundations, historical continuities, and transcontextual relevancies

Article Abstract:

The conceptual foundations of symbolic interaction are traced back to classic Greek scholarship as a sociological extension of American pragmatist philosophy. The symbolic interaction is typically viewed as a highly situated or localized approach to the study of human group life and interactionism offers extended potential for transhistorical and transcultural comparative analysis.
