Gender inequality: sorting out the effects of race/ethnicity and gender in the Anglo male-Latino female earnings gap
Article Abstract:
The capability of a human capital model which focuses on the individual characteristics of workers, to explain the differences in the earnings of Latino women and Anglo men, is evaluated. The effects of race/ethnicity and gender on earnings are studied by regression decomposition analyses. Results show that the human capital model explains only 25% of the earnings difference. When the net effect of ethnicity is regulated keeping gender constant, the model explains 83% of the earnings gap.

Theoretical perspectives on Goffman: critique and commentary
Article Abstract:
Sociologist Erving Goffman made several significant contributions to sociology such as the theory of interactional citizenship, spontaneous involvement and the framework for feminist work. Unlike other members of the discipline, his research strategy offered detailed descriptions and analyses of the social phenomena rather than proposed theories that might account for his observations.
