The politics of social work research

Article Abstract:

A criticism of John T. Pardeck and Roland G. Meinert's claim that the contributing editors of Social Work lack a record of scholarly productivity is given. Social work organizations promote work driven by politics rather than content and the latent role of the journal's editorial board is political gatekeeping, resulting in a lack of intellectual diversity in the journal.

Social work scholarship and gatekeeping: reflection on the debate

Article Abstract:

The claim of John T. Pardeck and Roland G. Meinert that editorial members of Social work lack a record of scholarly productivity to the journal is criticized. A broader view of scholarship including books and anthology chapters and consideration of a more substantial time period may have come up with a different result.
