Tobacco use, secondhand smoke exposure and their related knowledge, attitudes and behaviors among Asian Americans

Article Abstract:

The tobacco use, secondhand smoke exposure and related knowledge, attitudes and behaviors among Asian American in the Delaware Valley of Pennsylvania and New Jersey were examined. Findings revealed mean age of initiation to be 18.3, 40% ever and 30% current users, with significant differences reflected in smoking by gender, ethnicity, educational level, marital and employment status.

Validity of retrospective assessments of nicotine dependence: A preliminary report

Article Abstract:

Around 28 individuals who completed either the Fagerstrom Tolerance Questionnaire (FTQ) or Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND) in smoking cessation trials is being reported to estimate the accuracy of retrospective reports of dependence. The preliminary reports suggest that retrospectively assessed FTQ/FTND scale scores have acceptable reliability.

Eliciting patients' preferences for cigarette and alcohol cessation: an application of conjoint analysis

Article Abstract:

The conjoint analysis was used to examine the strength and stability of preferences for quitting cigarettes versus alcohol in a population of dual users undergoing treatment. The vignettes described health states associated with three levels of substance use.
