Traces of doubt and sources of trust: Health professions in an uncertain society

Article Abstract:

The contradictory developments between seeking trust and demanding control in the field of health care and also the concept of professionalism and changing health policy ad practice are analyzed. The highly flexible nature of professionalism has allowed for transformations according to new demands in health care without necessarily weakening its power and appeal in building trust.

A sociological concept of client trust

Article Abstract:

The concept of client trust is theoretically analyzed in order to clarify to what extent trust can be regarded as part of professionalism. The different questions that are formulated to determine whether sociostructural and occupational change since 1960s have had a negative effect on client trust are discussed.

Trust and professionalism in social professions: The case of social education

Article Abstract:

The trust and social professions are assessed by considering a case of social education and its development and the existing status in Spain. The analysis has showed that unless an effort is made in Spain to explain to lay citizens the role of social educators the development of trust would be more difficult.
