Verbal expectancies and performance after alcohol
Article Abstract:
The influence of giving new verbal expectancies on the effects of alcohol was examined among 120 male subjects. Each of the three groups were told that food intake will reduce the effects of alcohol, eating lunch causes drowsiness, which, in turn, aggravates the effects of alcohol, and provided with no pertinent information. The results revealed no relationship between verbal expectancy manipulation and performance, despite the significant influence on the rated ability to perform.

Biochemical alcohol screening in primary health care
Article Abstract:
Alcohol biomarkers such as carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT) and gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) have significant potential for enhancing the quality of medical treatment in primary health care settings. Recent studies demonstrate that these laboratory tests can help the general practitioners in many ways, but translational studies are needed on methods to facilitate knowledge and use of alcohol biomarkers by them.
