Visions of community: women and children in the developing and developed worlds
Article Abstract:
The implementation of a delocalized production system in Kenya did not only pose serius economic problems, but also altered the country's social and political landscape. Delocalization undermined the power of women which eventually led to poverty and reduced child care. And since women were prohibited from acquiring education, they were barred from participating in the modern economic sector. Problems are further aggravated by the division of family-owned land among relatives which contributed to the rise of homeless children in the country.
