Women's rights are human rights: platform for action
Article Abstract:
The violent offenses against women were recognized as violations of their human rights based on the Platform for Action statement from the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Sep 1995. Private and public violence were considered as the two types of offenses against women's rights. The Platform for Action consisted of 12 important areas of concern influencing the well being of women. The human rights of the girl child were also discussed and considered. The emphasis on women's human rights expanded the support for social workers in eliminating violence against women.

Guaranteeing women's rights: the UN Women's Convention
Article Abstract:
An overview is presented on the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, introduced in the early 1980s. The article cites the Convention's strengths, such as promoting a universal standards in health, education and employment, and its weaknesses, such as a country's refusal to ratify or implement its standards.

Implementing the United Nations convention on the rights of the child: the Canadian experience
Article Abstract:
The United Nations convention, realized the need for international acceptance of children and to provide for adequate conditions for development. The main feature of the convention is promotion and protection of children's rights and improvement in children's well-being and quality of life.
