Decompression sickness - a diver's worst nightmare

Decompression sickness, commonly known as the bends, is a condition experienced by divers when not enough time is allowed for the body to adjust to the different pressures on the surface and underwater. Symptoms include nausea and joint pain as a result of the accumulation of nitrogen.
