East coast wrecks: New Jersey's USS Algol
Article Abstract:
The USS Algol was sunk last Nov 21, 1992 to serve as an artificial reef in Shark River, New Jersey. The sinking is part of a project of the New Jersey Department of Fish, Game and Wildlife. The ship is expected to attract marine life and soon become a famous dive site.

New Jersey's Gulftrade: wartime tragedy is marinelife boon
Article Abstract:
The oil tanker Gulftrade sank off the coast of Barnegat Inlet, NJ, on Mar 9, 1942. Since then, the shipwreck has become the home of abundant marine populations such as lobster, Black Sea bass, ling, blackfish and winter flounder.
