After 2 bad years, 1981 pre-season ski sales rose. Only in the Pacific Northwest was business bad. High-end lines sold best, clothing better than equipment, with Oshman's novice promotion in Los Angeles the exception. Mid-Atlantic, southern New England, and Rockies fared best.

Long-distance bus tours stoke Ski Haus Sports

Ski Haus Sports in Oklahoma City has begun promoting and conducting bus tours to ski areas in New Mexico and Colorado. Because travel is so expensive by car, the bus service is very desirable for skiers. About 75% of the skiers rent their equipment from Ski Haus Sports.

Christmas sales rise and fall with snow and temperatures

Reports of sales vary around the country. East coast retailers report fine sales, while those in the Rockies and the West have had a slower time. It is all dependent on the weather. Snow in the East had help boost sales.
