Article Abstract:
The first self-contained breathing apparatus was designed by Benoit Rouquayrol to save miners trapped in the coal mines of Central France. Revised to suit the needs of the navy, it has undergone tremendous advances but the idea behind the original design remains, save that which is worth saving, people and the sea.

Several environmental organizations have reported the continuous death of coral reefs and marine life and the deterioration of water quality. However, the opening of several dive resorts and underwater parks has improved the image of recreational diving in many aspects.
